Catamounts’ Brennan to retire after 19 seasons

Burlington, VT (Sports Network) – Vermont men’s basketball coach Tom Brennan
announced Thursday that the 2004-05 season will be his last.

“Tom has left a mark of distinction on our athletic program, the university,
the community and on the student-athletes who have played for him,” said AD
Robert Corran. “We are blessed to have worked with him and to call him a
friend.”

Brennan ranks second in victories at the school with 239 in 18 seasons and
will begin the 2004-05 campaign just nine wins shy of 300 for his career.

“This will mark 19 of the most wonderful years of my life and the support from
the people here has never wavered,” Brennan said Thursday. “After the season,
I look forward to staying actively involved in the university and the
basketball program.”

Brennan has also served as head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson and Yale. In
four seasons at Yale, he posted a record of 46-58.

In 23 seasons as a head coach, Brennan’s record is 291-343.
