Champaign, IL (Sports Network) – Dee Brown scored a game-high 20 points, all
in the first half, and Roger Powell Jr. added 15 as sixth-ranked Illinois
routed Florida A&M, 91-60, at Assembly Hall. Luther Head chipped in with 13
points on 5-of-9 shooting for Illinois (2-0), which has won two straight to
open the season. Deron Williams contributed 11 points and also dished out a
game-high eight assists in the win. Glen Elliott paced Florida A&M with a
team-high 15 points and hauled down eight boards. Jason Thomas and Tony
Tate each netted eight points for the Rattlers (0-2), who have been pasted
in their first two games this season.

Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) – Devin Smith scored 17 points and
grabbed six rebounds to lead Virginia to a 78-60 upset of 10th-ranked Arizona
at University Hall. Sean Singletary added 15 points, six boards and eight
assists for the Cavaliers (2-0), who also won their season-opener on Friday
night over Robert Morris. Elton Brown also had 15 points as Virginia went
ahead in the first half and held off the Wildcats in the second. Channing Frye
had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Arizona (2-1), which is taking a break from
its preseason NIT schedule. Hassan Adams added 14 points for the Wildcats,
who will be playing Michigan in the semifinals of the tournament at Madison
Square Garden on Wednesday.

rebounds and 12 assists en route to the first triple-double in school history
to lead No. 12 Mississippi State over Nicholls State, 98-69, at the Humphrey
Coliseum. Winsome Frazier netted 13 points for the Bulldogs (4-1), who
played their first home game of the season. Stefan Blaszczynksi posted a
game-high 21 points for the Colonels (0-1), who played in their season
opener under new head coach J.P. Piper.

and added seven rebounds and three blocks to lead 18th-ranked Alabama over
North Texas, 85-71. Earnest Shelton added 17 points for the Crimson Tide, who
opened the season at 2-0. Leonard Hopkins netted 19 points for the Mean
Green (1-1), who knocked off Division II foe Angelo State in their season

Spokane, WA (Sports Network) – Sean Mallon had 21 points and seven rebounds to
lead a three-way attack, as 25th-ranked Gonzaga cruised to a 78-62 victory
over Montana at the McCarthey Athletic Center. Ronny Turiaf collected 20
points and eight boards while Adam Morrison scored 19 with six rebounds for
the Bulldogs (2-0), who have opened their new home arena with back-to-back
wins. Derek Raivio handed out a game-high 13 assists to go with seven steals.
Kamarr Davis had 15 points and 11 boards to lead the way for Grizzlies (0-1)
in their first game of the season under new head coach and former alum Larry
Krystowiak. Matt Martin and Virgil Matthews added 10 points in Montana’s
eighth straight loss to Gonzaga.
