assists to lead the newly anointed No. 1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a 99-72
victory over Yale at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. Eric Williams and Kyle
Visser also netted 15 each, while Chris Ellis contributed 14 in the
victory. Jamaal Levy had a game-high 11 rebounds for Wake Forest (3-0),
which is the top-ranked team in the nation for the first time. Casey Hughes
led all scorers with 20 points for the Bulldogs (1-2). Edwin Draughan added
19 in the loss.

second half. Cedrick Banks scored a game-high 23 points for the Flames (0-1),
who had their 15-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents
snapped.

Maui, HI (Sports Network) – Sean May scored 18 points and Rashad McCants
netted 13 as No. 11 North Carolina routed Brigham Young, 86-50, in the first
round of the Maui Invitational from the Lahaina Civic Center. Jawad Williams
added 11 points for the Tar Heels (1-1), who rebounded from a 77-66 setback
to Santa Clara on Friday. The loss dropped North Carolina, seven spots in
the AP poll. Melvin Scott contributed 10 in the win.

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – Daniel Ewing scored 19 points and keyed a
late surge as ninth-ranked Duke held off Davidson for a 74-61 victory at
Charlotte Coliseum. J.J. Redick tallied 18 points for the Blue Devils
(2-0), who have defeated their in-state counterparts at Davidson 18
consecutive times. Shelden Williams and Sean Dockery added 15 points apiece in
the victory. Logan Kosmalski poured in a career-high 25 points to go with
13 rebounds in the loss while Brendan Winters had 24 points and eight boards
before fouling out in the final minute.
