points in overtime, and top-ranked Illinois held on for a 73-68 victory over
No. 23 Iowa in Big-10 action at Assembly Hall. Dee Brown added 12 points for
the Illini, also scoring four in overtime. Illinois (19-0, 5-0 Big 10)
extended its record-best season start and improved to 10-0 at home. Pierre
Pierce scored 22 points to lead the Hawkeyes (13-4, 1-3), who have lost three
of their last four to open conference play. Brunner collected 16 points and 11
rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) – Jerome Gumbs scored 18 points and grabbed
a game-high 13 rebounds to lead San Francisco to a 73-70 upset over 11th-
ranked Gonzaga at Memorial Gym. John Cox had 13 points and seven boards for
the Dons (10-7, 2-2 West Coast Conference), who have won two straight games.
Johnny Dukes netted 12 points in the win. Ronny Turiaf had 18 points and 10
rebounds for the Bulldogs (13-4, 3-2), who had their two-game winning streak
halted. Derek Raivio also had 18 points and J.P. Batista netted 15 in the
loss. The win snapped San Francisco’s 12-game losing streak in the series and
marked the school’s first win over Gonzaga since 1998.

13. Bryce Taylor scored 20 points to lead Oregon (11-4, 3-3), which has lost
three of five on the heels of a five-game winning streak. Aaron Brooks
added 15 points and Malik Hairston scored 11 in defeat.

lead the DePaul Blue Demons over the 25th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles,
85-72, at Allstate Arena. Lorenzo Thompson added 17 points, while Quemont
Greer netted 15 for the Blue Demons (11-4, 3-1 C-USA), who won their third
straight game and sixth out of their last seven. Dameon Mason paced
Marquette (14-3, 2-2) with 24 points and Travis Diener added 15 in the
setback. The Golden Eagles lost for the second time in three tries.
