Bucknell’s Flannery to take leave of absence
Lewisburg, PA (Sports Network) – Bucknell announced Sunday that men’s
basketball coach Pat Flannery will take a temporary leave of absence, starting
Due to a series of medical developments, including one during the Bison’s
Friday evening contest against Lafayette, Flannery will not be on the bench
for Sunday’s game against Lehigh.
“Through all my years as a coach, I’ve reinforced to my players that family
comes first. From that standpoint, I also realize that I must make my health a
priority,” Flannery said. “After taking into consideration recent events, and
after talking extensively with my family and administrators, we have made the
decision to take a temporary leave of absence. I know that the coaching staff
will do a tremendous job in leading our student-athletes and I look forward to
returning to the bench as quickly as possible.”
The timing of Flannery’s return to full coaching responsibilities will be
decided based on his progress with his health issues and will not be projected
at this time.
The Bison are currently 13-4 and a sport 10-game winning streak.
