Providence’s Brown leaves team

Providence, RI (Sports Network) – Providence College sophomore guard Gerald
Brown has left the men’s basketball team for personal reasons.

Brown, of Baltimore, MD, played in 15 games this season and averaged 7.1
points and 2.5 rebounds. In 11 games his freshman season, he averaged 2.0
points per game.

Providence is struggling this year, as the club is just 9-11 after making the
NCAA Tournament a season ago. The Friars have dropped seven straight, are 0-7
in the Big East and have lost 10 consecutive conference games dating back to
last season.
