Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) – Charlie Villanueva posted game-highs of 21
points and 10 rebounds and Rudy Gay added 18 points as 19th-ranked Connecticut
snapped No. 8 Syracuse’s 16-game home win streak with a 74-66 victory at the
Carrier Dome. Villanueva finished 9-of-13 from the field while Gay
pulled down seven rebounds for the Huskies (15-5, 7-3 Big East), who
outscored the Orange 9-1 over the final three minutes to record their
third straight win and fourth triumph in five games. Hakim Warrick led
Syracuse (21-3, 8-2) with 16 points but only three came after halftime.
Josh Pace tallied 14 on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed six rebounds for
the Orange, who had not lost at home since an 82-74 defeat to Notre Dame
nearly a full year ago. Syracuse sharpshooter Gerry McNamara registered just
nine points and ended 1-of-9 from three-point range as the Orange suffered
their second loss in three games after reeling off 13 consecutive wins.

points to lead 10th-ranked Oklahoma State to a 79-67 victory over No. 16
Oklahoma at Gallagher-Iba Arena. John Lucas chipped in 15 points, including
12 in the second half, for the Cowboys (18-3, 8-2 Big 12), who have won
four in a row since losing at Oklahoma on January 24. Ivan McFarlin
collected 13 points and 10 rebounds for Oklahoma State, which extended the
nation’s longest current home winning streak to 27 games. Kevin Bookout paced
the Sooners with 15 points and 10 boards. Taj Gray contributed 14
points and eight rebounds for Oklahoma (17-5, 6-3), which has lost three of
its last four contests.

Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) – Bryant Markson scored a game-high 19 points
as the 15th-ranked Runnin’ Utes of Utah extended their winning streak to 15
games with a hard-fought 57-53 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West Conference
game at the Thomas & Mack Center. Markson went 8-of-11 from the floor,
including a three-pointer, for the Utes (20-3, 8-0,) whose 15th consecutive
win is the third-longest active winning streak in the nation behind undefeated
Illinois and Boston College. Utah’s All-American candidate Andrew Bogut
netted 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting, and grabbed just four rebounds,
while Justin Hawkins contributed 12 points and six boards in the victory.

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – Curtis Sumpter scored 15 points and Jason
Fraser added 14 to go along with 14 rebounds as 22nd-ranked Villanova downed
intra-city rival Saint Joseph’s, 67-52, at the Palestra. Allan Ray also had
14 points, all of which came during the second half, while Randy Foye
compiled 13 points and eight boards for the Wildcats (14-5), who led from
start to finish and used an outstanding defensive effort to record their
fifth win in six games. Pat Carroll and Chet Stachitas each netted 16 points
for the Hawks, who shot just 29 percent (15-of-51) for the night, including a
woeful 16 percent in the first half. Dwayne Jones pulled down 11 rebounds
for Saint Joseph’s (11-9), which committed 17 turnovers and saw a three-game
win streak come to an end.
