Coral Gables, FL (Sports Network) – Miami-Florida head basketball coach Frank
Haith signed a five-year contract Wednesday, keeping him with the university
through the 2009-2010 season.

Haith guided the Hurricanes to a 16-13 record in his first season at the helm,
including a 7-9 mark in the ACC.

“I appreciate the confidence that President (Donna) Shalala, Paul Dee and the
University administration have in our players and coaching staff,” Haith said
in a release. “This contract allows us the opportunity to continue building
this basketball program into one that the University and the surrounding
community can be proud of.”

Haith spent three seasons at Texas as an assistant before joining Miami. He
has also been an assistant with Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Penn State, UNC-
Wilmington and his alma mater, Elon.

“We are extremely pleased with the success of the men’s basketball program
this season and look forward to the program’s continued growth under Coach
Haith,” Dee, the school’s athletic director, said. “We felt it was appropriate
at this time to give Coach Haith a new five-year contract.”
