Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) – Rashad McCants scored 17 points and Marvin
Williams added 16 as North Carolina edged pesky Villanova, 67-66, in a
Syracuse Region semifinal matchup of the NCAA Tournament. Sean May finished
with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the top-seeded Tar Heels (30-4), who
advanced to the Elite Eight and will take on No. 6 seed Wisconsin in Sunday’s
regional final. Randy Foye poured in a game-high 28 points and freshman
Kyle Lowry had 18 points and seven rebounds for the fifth-seeded Wildcats
(24-8), who gave heavily favored North Carolina all it could handle before
seeing their season come to an end.

Final Score: Wisconsin 65, North Carolina State 56

Wilkinson added 17 as Wisconsin used a big second half to defeat North
Carolina State, 65-56, in a Syracuse Region semifinal matchup of the NCAA
Tournament. Zach Morley had 10 points and eight rebounds for the sixth-
seeded Badgers (25-8), who rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to
advance to the Elite Eight. Engin Atsur poured in 16 points and Julius
Hodge scored 14 for the 10th-seeded Wolfpack (21-14), who saw their season
come to an end after reaching the Sweet 16 for the first time in 16 years.
Wisconsin trailed 30-21 at intermission but opened the second half with a
26-7 run to build a 10-point advantage en route to the victory.

Final Score: Michigan State 78, Duke 68

Austin, TX (Sports Network) – Paul Davis finished with 20 points and 12
rebounds as the Michigan State Spartans upended the Duke Blue Devils, 78-68,
in the third round of the NCAA Tournament from the Frank Erwin Center. Alan
Anderson poured in 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Spartans
(25-6), who advanced to the regional finals where they will take on Kentucky
on Sunday. Maurice Ager netted 14 points and Shannon Brown chipped in 11 in
the win. Shelden Williams paced the Blue Devils (27-6) with 19 points
and eight rebounds before fouling out with 2:47 left to play. Daniel Ewing
had 18 points in his last game for Duke, which saw its five-game winning
streak come to an end.

Austin, TX (Sports Network) – Chuck Hayes scored 12 points, while Rajon Rondo
added 10 as Kentucky defeated Utah, 62-52, in the third round of the NCAA
Tournament from the Frank Erwin Center. Hayes and Rondo ended an efficient
night shooting as the two combined to go 9-of-11 from the floor for the
second-seeded Wildcats (28-5), who advanced to the Elite Eight. Kelenna
Azubuike finished with nine points in the win. Andrew Bogut netted 20 points
and pulled down 11 rebounds for the sixth-seeded Utes (29-6), who lost to
Kentucky for the sixth time in tournament play. Marc Jackson ended with 10
points and Bryant Markson had nine points in the losing effort.
