UConn’s Villanueva to turn pro
Storrs, CT (Sports Network) – University of Connecticut forward
Charlie Villanueva will forgo his remaining two years of eligibility and
enter the 2005 NBA Draft.
The Hartford Courant reported that Villanueva has decided to hire New York-
based agent Billy Ceisler of Essential Sports. Ceisler also represents Chicago
Bulls rookie guard Ben Gordon, a former teammate of Villanueva’s at UConn, and
guard Jarvis Hayes of the Washington Wizards.
Villanueva started all 31 games for the Huskies this past season and averaged
13.6 points and 8.3 rebounds. He was sensational down the stretch, though, as
he scored 18.2 points with 9.7 boards during the team’s final 10 games, eight
of which were wins.
The 20-year-old becomes the first Huskie sophomore to enter the draft since
Caron Butler following the 2001-02 campaign.
