Former Syracuse basketball star Eddie Moss passes away
Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) – Eddie Moss, a standout four-year letter winner
with the Syracuse men’s hoops team, passed away after battling a lengthy
illness. He was 45.
Moss, who was a talented guard with the Orange from 1977-1981, started all 30
contests his junior year and then 34 games as a senior. He was a mainstay in
the backcourt for coach Jim Boeheim, finishing his career with 681 points. His
539 assists and 232 steals rank fifth and third, respectively, in school
Known for his defensive prowess and his ability to control the game’s tempo,
Moss was part of three clubs that earned NCAA Tournament berths. In his senior
season, Syracuse claimed the league’s tournament title and advanced to the NIT
championship game before bowing out to Tulsa.
The Dallas Mavericks selected Moss in the second round of the 1981 NBA Draft.
