Stanford’s Hernandez withdraws from NBA Draft
Stanford, CA (Sports Network) – Stanford guard Chris Hernandez announced
Monday that he has withdrawn his name from the upcoming NBA Draft and will
return to school for his senior season.
“I’m happy to be returning to Stanford to play my senior year and get my
masters degree in sociology,” said Hernandez, who never signed with an agent
and was allowed to return to school by June 21. “This spring was a great
learning experience and I’m hoping the improvements I made will carry over
into next season. I want to thank my coaches and teammates for their support
during this time.”
Hernandez gained first team All Pac-10 honors last year for a second straight
season as he averaged 15.2 points, 4.0 assists and 1.73 steals per game.
Stanford ended the 2004-05 season with an 18-13 record, an 11-7 mark in the
Pac-10 (third place) and a school record eleventh straight trip to the NCAA
