Albany extends Brown
Albany, NY (Sports Network) – The University of Albany gave head coach Will
Brown a one-year contract extension on Tuesday.
Brown, who took the helm at Albany in March of 2002 after serving as interim
coach for nearly a season, signed through 2006. Financial terms of the deal
were not disclosed.
“I am pleased with the recent progress the program has made,” said Lee
McElroy, the school’s vice president and athletics director. “Coach Brown has
done a wonderful job of rebuilding through the recruiting process, and our
student athletes are excited about the possibilities this year.”
Albany finished 13-15 last season, and they posted a best-ever 9-9 mark in the
America East Conference. The Great Danes, led by Jamar Wilson and Lucious
Jordan, are expected to be among the preseason favorites to win the

Brown was head coach at Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake,
New York, for three years before going to Albany. He led the Generals to a
30-2 record and an appearance in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic
Association Championship in 2000-01.
