Myles Brand has contract extended
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) – The NCAA Executive Committee announced
that NCAA President Myles Brand had his contract extended. Brand’s new deal
will run through December 31, 2009.
“This is a vote of confidence in the leadership of Myles Brand for
intercollegiate athletics over the last two and a half years,” said
University of Hartford president and chair of the NCAA Executive Committee
Walter Harrison. “We are delighted by the strong leadership he has provided
to the Association, and we look forward to the contribution he will make in
Brand took over as the NCAA’s fourth chief executive officer on January 1,
2003, with a five-year contract. Prior to his current position, the 63-year-
old Brand was the president of Indiana University from 1994 through 2002.
