Hewitt gets contract extension at Georgia Tech

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – Georgia Tech men’s head basketball coach Paul
Hewitt has received a one-year contract extension through the 2010-11 season.

Hewitt, who helped the Yellow Jackets to the NCAA Tournament in each of the
last two seasons, originally agreed to a six-year contract with the school
through the spring of 2004.

During his five seasons at Georgia Tech, Hewitt has compiled a 96-66 record.
His overall record stands at 162-93 in eight years, as he has also coached for
Siena (1997-2000).

The 42-year-old Hewitt engineered the Yellow Jackets to a 20-12 record last
season and to the ACC Tournament championship game. Georgia Tech upended
George Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but was then
beaten by Louisville.

In 2004, the Yellow Jackets advanced to the NCAA Tournament title contest
before losing to Connecticut.
