Dayton, OH (Sports Network) – The University of Dayton has announced that
men’s basketball coach Brian Gregory has agreed to a new contract that will
keep him with the Flyers through the 2012-13 season.
“This new contract includes incentives for performance and longevity. It is
not just based on what Brian has accomplished in his first two years as our
coach, but also for what we believe is to come,” said vice-president and
director of athletics Ted Kissell.
Gregory, who assumed coaching duties on April 9, 2003, is 42-20 with the
Flyers and was named the 2004-05 Atlantic 10 coach of the year by CBS
Sportsline.com and collegeinsider.com. This is his first head coaching job.
Gregory, a native of Mount Prospect, Illinois, has 15 years of coaching
experience, with 12 of them coming in the Big Ten. He began his coaching
career in 1990 at Michigan State and also worked at Toledo and Northwestern
Gregory spent one year at the United States Naval Academy, and was a teammate
of David Robinson on Navy’s 1985-86 team that advanced to the NCAA Elite
