Bucs give Bartow contract extension
Johnson City, TN (Sports Network) – East Tennessee State University announced
that men’s head basketball coach Murry Bartow has been given a two-year
contract extension. As per school policy, financial terms of the deal were not
“I’m glad we were able to reach an agreement through the 2009 season to give
our team stability and great leadership,” director of intercollegiate
athletics Dave Mullins said. “Coach Bartow continues to attract outstanding
players and quality individuals to ETSU. We hope this contract extension will
help us maintain our mens basketball as a prominent mid-major program.”
In two seasons at ETSU, Bartow has led the Bucs to an overall record of 37-25.
The 2003-04 team produced one of the greatest seasons in school history as the
Bucs went 27-6, capturing the Southern Conference regular season and
tournament championships, and nearly knocked off Cincinnati in the first
round of the NCAA Tournament. Bartow was also named the conference coach of
