Pepperdine’s Hicks sidelined with foot injury
Malibu, CA (Sports Network) – Pepperdine sophomore center Russell Hicks is
expected to miss up to six weeks with a broken bone in his left foot.
Hicks, who suffered the injury during a Wednesday practice, played in 30 games
(seven starts) last season and averaged 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds.
In addition, junior guard Marvin Lea, who suffered a stress fracture in his
left foot during the early in fall practice, is expected to miss the
first month of the season.
Lea averaged 4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and ranked fourth in the West Coast
Conference with 3.74 assists last year.
Freshman guard Michael Nash is also expected to miss the entire season after
having reconstructive surgery on his right knee.
Pepperdine begins its season Friday night when it hosts No. 3 Connecticut.
