Everett, Sooners cruise past Belmont

Norman, OK (Sports Network) – Terrell Everett scored 17 points and dished out
nine assists as the 5th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners dominated the Belmont Bruins,
81-59, at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Taj Gray poured in 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Oklahoma (3-0)
remained undefeated on the young season. David Godbold added 12 points and
Kevin Bookout chipped in with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor. He
also added six rebounds.

Boomer Herndon netted 18 points for Belmont (2-1) and was the only scorer in
double-figures for the Bruins, as they lost for the first time this season.
Matthew Dotson scored seven points and had six rebounds in the loss.

Belmont led the game early at 8-6, but that was the only lead they would hold
as the Sooners led the rest of the way.

Oklahoma used an 8-0 spurt to grab a 23-10 lead in the first half. Everett hit
a jumper with 8:53 remaining, giving them the 13-point advantage.

The Sooners continued to run in front and with 2:33 remaining in the opening
half, Gray slammed home two giving Oklahoma a 39-23 lead.

Oklahoma entered halftime up 40-25 after shooting 15-of-37 from the floor for
40.5 percent.

Early in the second half, Oklahoma ripped off a 13-0 spurt putting them up
61-35 with 12:07 to go. During the run, Everett netted six points.

With 2:03 left to play, the Sooners went up 78-55 as Gray scored four
consecutive points in the paint.

Game Notes

This was the first ever meeting between the schools…Oklahoma out-rebounded
Belmont, 52-30…The Sooners dished out 14 assists total with nine coming from
Everett…Belmont’s bench outscored Oklahoma’s 31-26…Justin Hare scored nine
points for the Bruins.
