Villanova, PA (Sports Network) – Allan Ray made a school-record eight three-
point field goals and finished with 26 points as fourth-ranked Villanova
cruised to an 84-47 victory over Lehigh at the Pavilion. Randy Foye added 21
points and Mike Nardi had 14 for the Wildcats (2-0), who hadn’t taken the
court since a season-opening win over Stony Brook on November 18, but didn’t
show any rust. Villanova set a team single-game record with 17 three-pointers
in 33 attempts, with Ray ending 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. Jose Olivero
compiled 15 points, the lone Lehigh (2-4) player in double figures.

Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) – Chris Rodgers scored 20 points as the ninth-
ranked Arizona Wildcats used a big second-half to easily defeat the Virginia
Cavaliers, 81-51, at the McKale Center. Hassan Adams chipped in 14 points and
nine rebounds while Mustafa Shakur added 14 points and six rebounds for the
Wildcats (2-2), who won their home opener and stopped a two-game slide. Shakur
also dished out seven assists. Virginia (2-1) was led by Sean Singletary,
who poured in 24 points in defeat.

East Lansing, MI (Sports Network) – Paul Davis had 30 points and 14 rebounds
to lead the 12th-ranked Michigan State Spartans over the IU/PU-Ft. Wayne
Mastodons, 84-73, at Breslin Center. Davis shot 12-of-17 from the floor and
was 6-for-6 from the charity stripe in the home opener for the Spartans (3-2),
who have won two straight after a triple-overtime loss to Gonzaga on Tuesday
in the Maui Invitational. Justin Hawkins had 13 points and Brad Pompey added
10 points and seven assists for the Mastodons (1-3), who have dropped their
last two games.

College Park, MD (Sports Network) – Chris McCray scored 20 points as the 23rd-
ranked Maryland Terrapins demolished the Nicholls State Colonels, 88-56, at
the Comcast Center. Nik Caner-Medley added 16 points for Maryland (4-1), which
has won four straight games after suffering an opening-round loss to
nationally-ranked Gonzaga in the Maui Invitational. Ekene Ibekwe contributed
15 points and grabbed six rebounds, while D.J. Strawberry scored 12 points on
5-of-6 shooting and also dished out a game-high 12 assists in the win. Stefan
Blaszcynski netted 20 points and added nine rebounds for Nicholls State (1-4),
which failed to follow up its win on Friday against Maryland- Eastern Shore.
