Gray leads Deacons past Elon

Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) – Justin Gray poured in a game-high 22 points
and Eric Williams added 14, leading 22nd-ranked Wake Forest to a 78-59 victory
over Elon at Greensboro Coliseum.

Kyle Visser netted 13 points and Trent Strickland added 10 points and 12
rebounds for the Demon Deacons (7-1), who have won five straight since their
only loss of the season versus Florida on November 17.

Wake Forest, which has won the last 22 meetings against Elon, next faces
DePaul on December 13.

Montell Watson paced the Phoenix with 13 points. Brett James and Le’Vonn
Jordan both contributed 10 points, as Elon (1-5) dropped its fifth straight
game.

Watson knocked down 4-of-6 three-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to help.

Wake Forest led 38-28 at halftime and outscored Elon by a 40-31 margin in the
second half for the win.

The Demon Deacons shot 50 percent for the game, while Elon was a dreadful 29
percent from the floor.

Gray finished 4-of-7 from three-point range to lift the Demon Deacons, who had
a 52-36 advantage on the boards.

Wake Forest also sank 19-of-31 free throws to just 7-of-11 for the Phoenix.

Game Notes

Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Elon, 34-6…The last time the
Phoenix defeated Wake Forest was during the 1921-22 season…Demon Deacons
head coach Skip Prosser is 5-0 versus Elon.
