No. 4 Villanova beats Longwood
Atlantic City, NJ (Sports Network) – Randy Foye scored 27 points to lead the
fourth-ranked Villanova Wildcats over the Longwood Lancers, 90-77, at
Allan Ray added 20 points and Will Sheridan contributed 13 points and eight
rebounds for the Wildcats (6-0), who have won all their games this season
by double-digit margins.
Michael Jefferson had 19 points and Maurice Sumter chipped in 17 points and
eight rebounds for the Lancers (2-7), who have dropped their last three games.
The Wildcats started the game with a 13-3 run, capped off by a Ray three-
pointer a little over four minutes into the game.
The Lancers cut the Wildcats’ lead to four points on the strength of a 10-5
run, making the score 29-25 after a Kirk Williams basket with under six
minutes remaining in the first half.
However, Villanova continued to increase its lead through the remainder of the
half and walked into the locker room with a 44-32 advantage.
The Wildcats only outscored the Lancers by one point in the second half.
Longwood outrebounded Villanova 44-35 in the contest…Villanova shot 48
percent from the floor…Longwood was 44 percent shooting in the game…The
Lancers turned the ball over 19 times to the Wildcats’ eight.
