Redick stars as No. 1 Duke cruises

Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) – J.J. Redick poured in 35 points and Shelden
Williams added 21 with 12 rebounds, as top-ranked Duke cruised to a 102-69
victory over UNC-Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Redick made 10-of-16 shots and hit 6-of-11 from beyond the arc for the Blue
Devils (12-0), who have won their first 12 games for the fourth time in the
past five years.

Duke shot 57.1 percent overall and made half of its 22 three-point tries en
route to the easy win. The Blue Devils also converted 27-of-28 free throws.

Ricky Hickman scored 23 points to lead UNC-Greensboro (7-6), which has lost
all six meetings with Duke. Kyle Hines chipped in 20 in defeat.

Duke never trailed and opened the game with the first nine points on the way
to a 30-15 edge midway through the first half. The Spartans never recovered
and went into the break down 59-37.

Redick scored 19 points in the opening 20 minutes.

The second half was much of the same as Duke maintained about a 20-point
cushion through the first 10 minutes. The Blue Devils’ reserves finished the
game on an 18-4 run to account for the final margin.

Freshman Josh McRoberts scored a season-high 15 points for Duke and Martynas
Pocius added 10.

Kevin Oleksiak contributed 14 points for Greensboro.

Game Notes

Williams registered his third straight double-double and added a career-high
six steals…The Blue Devils held a 37-21 advantage on the boards…Greensboro
made 46.3 percent of its shots…Duke converted 16 Greensboro turnovers into
26 points.
