Gators rout Morgan State
Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) – Lee Humphrey scored 14 points as the fifth-
ranked Florida Gators cruised to a 92-49 win over the Morgan State Bears at
the O’Connell Center.
Taurean Green had 13 points and nine assists, and Walter Hodge and Al Horford
each scored 12 for the Gators (13-0), who are off to the best start in school
Joseph McLean netted 15 and Timothy Berkley added 10 points for the Bears
(0-11), who are off to their worst start since the 2001-02 season, when they
Florida began the game with a 10-0 run, hitting four of its first seven shots,
capped by a Hodge three-pointer.
With the score 14-7, the Gators reeled off a 16-4 spurt, highlighted by six
points from David Huertas.
Florida connected on 60 percent of its shots, including 9-of-15 three-pointers
in the first-half, with three apiece from Humphrey and Hodge, to take a 53-27
lead at the break.
The Gators opened the second stanza with a 13-4 run, capped by Chris Richard’s
layup, to take a 66-31 lead with 14:27 left in the game.
Florida continued to add salt to the wounds and went on a 13-4 spurt, capped
by Brett Swanson’s layup to make the score 83-44.
Morgan State connected on 35.8 percent of its shots in the contest and never
made a run to get back in the game in the second half.
The Gators shot 58.6 percent from the field.
Florida scored 33 points off 24 Morgan State turnovers…The Gators got 40
points from their bench…Florida’s Joakim Noah played only 12 minutes and
