NC State stomps UNC-Greensboro

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) – Tony Bethel scored 20 points, as the 13th-
ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack cruised to an 83-52 victory over the UNC-
Greensboro Spartans at the RBC Center.

Cedric Simmons added 18 points and eight rebounds, and Engin Atsur chipped in
16 points for the Wolfpack (12-1), winners of their last seven games.

Kyle Hines had 18 points and Ricky Hickman added 13 for the Spartans (7-7),
who have dropped their last four games.

The Wolfpack started out the contest on a 16-4 run and had the 12-point lead
after Bethel drained a three-pointer just 6:14 into the first half.

The Spartans scored the next five points and made it a 16-9 game with 12:17
until halftime.

However, North Carolina State went on a 15-4 spurt and had a 31-13 lead when
Cameron Bennerman hit a free throw to complete a three-point play with 7:24

UNC-Greensboro cut it to a 16-point game as Hines connected on a free throw
after being fouled on a layup to make it 43-27. However, Andrew Brackman
drained a trey for the last basket of the half and the Wolfpack had a 46-27
lead going into the locker room.

The Wolfpack started out the second half with a 14-6 run and had a 60-33 lead
when Atsur drained a three-pointer with 13 minutes left.

North Carolina State continued to steadily increase its lead throughout the
final 20 minutes and led by as many as 34 points in the contest.

Game Notes

North Carolina State is 8-0 at home this season…UNC-Greensboro is 1-5 as the
visitors this season…The Wolfpack’s lone loss this season came at the hands
of Big Ten foe Iowa (45-42) back on November 30th…The Wolfpack shot 54.5
percent, while the Spartans connected on 45.2 percent…NC State doubled up
UNC-Greensboro on the boards, 36-18…The Wolfpack play at No. 25 North
Carolina on Saturday.
