Georgia Tech’s Tarver academically ineligible to play
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – Georgia Tech senior Theodis Tarver has
been ruled academically ineligible to play by the school and will miss the
remainder of the season.
The 6-foot-9 center from Monroe, LA, is eligible by NCAA standards, however,
he does not meet Georgia Tech’s requirements. He will continue to attend
classes to acquire his degree in international affairs at the school, but his
collegiate basketball career at the university is finished.
Tarver had started the Yellow Jackets’ previous six games and was averaging
4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds on the season. He had his best game on January 8
when he netted eight points with six rebounds in a 60-58 upset win over
11th-ranked Boston College.
