Sooners hold on to beat Red Raiders

Norman, OK (Sports Network) – Michael Neal scored 15 points as the 25th-ranked
Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 60-48, at the Lloyd
Noble Center.

Terrell Everett had 11 points and eight assists and Kevin Bookout contributed
nine points and 10 rebounds for the Sooners (11-4, 2-2 Big 12), who have won
two in a row and five of their last seven contests.

Jarrius Jackson netted 15 and Martin Zeno added 13 points for
the Red Raiders (10-9, 2-3), who have lost two straight games.

The Sooners jumped out in front 27-5 to start the game and led 32-12 at the
half, as they hit 58.3 percent of their shots. The Red Raiders went over
eight minutes without a field goal and scored a season-low 12 points in the
first half with a 23.8 shooting percentage.

It was a tale of two halves as Texas Tech came out strong in the second
stanza. The lead was cut to 34-19, courtesy of a 7-2 spurt that was capped by
a pair of Zeno free throws, to open the half. Oklahoma hit just three of their
first 12 shots in the final frame to open the door for the Red Raiders.

With the score 39-19, Texas Tech reeled off a 19-1 streak, highlighted by
five points apiece from Zeno and Jackson, to narrow the gap to 40-38 with
almost 8 1/2 minutes to play. Oklahoma would go over eight minutes without a
field goal to help fuel the run.

However, the Red Raiders would get no closer and Neal put the game away in the
final minutes with four consecutive treys.

Texas Tech shot 55 percent from the field, including 4-of-6 from long range,
while the Sooners won the game despite shooting 29 percent from the floor in
the second half. Oklahoma won the rebounding battle, 38-23.
