Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) – Jared Dudley tallied 17 points and Craig
Smith added 16, as the two veterans took over down the stretch in Boston
College’s 81-74 ACC victory over North Carolina at the Smith Center.
Dudley also pulled down eight rebounds and Smith dished out seven assists for
Boston College (15-4, 3-3 ACC), which has won four straight overall and its

donated 11 points apiece in the victory.
Tyler Hansbrough poured in a career-high 26 points and grabbed eight boards in

As the rigors off a season-long journey through the balanced Atlantic Coast
Conference continue, the Tar Heels are showing signs of youth.
Boston College held a comfortable lead for most of the second half before
North Carolina made a run. Green’s bucket brought the Heels within 61-56 with
7:52 left, then after Sean Williams scored inside, Terry buried a trey to make
the score 63-59.
Dudley made a jumper, but UNC responded with Marcus Ginyard’s jumper and
Terry’s two free throws to cut the deficit to 65-63 with 5:35 left.
Yet, North Carolina didn’t make crucial defensive stops.
Smith spun in the lane and scored to push the lead to four and the back-
breaker came courtesy of Rice, who might have shot the three from nearby
Durham. The 23-footer took all of the air out of the Smith Center and gave BC
a 70-63 edge.
North Carolina cut the deficit to five several times in the final minutes but
got no closer.
Boston College finished the first half on a 27-6 scoring streak to take a
42-30 lead at the break and maintained its comfortable advantage until late in
the second half.
Senior David Noel was a non-factor with five points on 1-of-4 shooting. Noel
also committed five turnovers…UNC turned the ball over 19 times…Boston
College made just 11-of-20 from the charity stripe…The two schools have
