Wilmont stars as Indiana bests Northwestern

Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) – Roderick Wilmont scored 23 points to lead
22nd-ranked Indiana to a 72-63 win over Northwestern from Assembly Hall.

Robert Vaden netted 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five
assists for the Hoosiers (13-5, 5-3 Big Ten), who ended a two-game losing
streak and posted their 34th straight win over Northwestern in Bloomington.

Indiana will take on top-ranked Connecticut this weekend.

Vedran Vukusic led the Wildcats with 18 points, while Mohamed Hachad finished
with 14 in the loss. Northwestern (10-9, 3-5), which ended a four-game losing
streak with a win over Purdue last week, is back to its losing ways.

A.J. Ratliff buried a three-pointer to give the Hoosiers a 19-9 lead, but
Northwestern battled back to even the score at 22-22. Hachad ended the run on
a basket with about 7 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half.

Indiana, though, carried a 27-24 edge into the locker room.

Wilmont knocked down consecutive three-pointers early in the second half to
stake Indiana to a 40-32 lead. Errek Suhr, who had 10 points and five assists
in the triumph, later buried a three to make it a 52-42 contest.

The Wildcats ended the game on a brief surge and pulled within 58-55 on a Tim
Doyle layup, but Northwestern never got any closer and suffered the loss.

Game Notes

The Hoosiers own a 104-43 lead in the all-time series with Northwestern…The
Wildcats will battle Michigan State this weekend…Wilmont buried 5-of-10 from
beyond the arc…Marco Killingsworth ended with nine points and 12 rebounds.
