Farmar powers UCLA past Arizona State
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Jordan Farmar scored 18 points to lead
14th-ranked UCLA to a 69-60 win over Arizona State at Pauley Pavilion.
Arron Afflalo netted 17 points and Cedric Bozeman added 10 for the Bruins
(18-4, 8-2 Pac-10), who posted their third win in a row.
Bryson Krueger had 14 points and Antwi Atuahene chipped in 12, but Arizona
State (7-12, 1-9) dropped its fourth straight game and ninth in 10 tries.
Michael Roll buried a three and Farmar converted a three-point play in
succession, pushing the pesky Sun Devils back with a 53-46 advantage with 7:05
Arizona State pulled within 57-52 minutes later, but five straight points by
Afflalo staked UCLA to a 10-point cushion at 62-52.
Two quick baskets by the Sun Devils made it a six-point contest, but Bozeman
beat the shot clock and buried a three with 48 seconds remaining for a 65-56
UCLA then held on for the win — its fourth in the series versus Arizona
State, including a 61-60 win this season on January 7.
The Bruins had a slim 32-30 lead at halftime.
UCLA leads the all-time series with the Sun Devils 52-14…The Bruins will
next play Arizona…The Sun Devils will battle USC.
