Roy leads No. 20 Washington over Oregon State

Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) – Brandon Roy posted 25 points, eight rebounds
and nine assists as 20th-ranked Washington dropped Oregon State 96-63
at the Gill Coliseum.

Ryan Appleby netted 15 points on 5-of-6 three-point shooting for the Huskies
(20-5, 9-5 Pac-10), who are on a four-game winning streak including a
75-72 thriller at Oregon on Thursday. Bobby Jones and Jamaal Williams added 12
points apiece for Washington.

Sasa Cuic scored 17 points to pace the Beavers (11-15, 4-11), who have lost
seven of their last eight games. Nick DeWitz scored 12 points, while Marcel
Jones added 10.

Roy scored a layup and free throw, which capped a 12-2 Washington run that
gave the Huskies a 79-54 lead midway through the second half, and put the game
out of Oregon State’s reach.

The Huskies completed their first sweep in the state of Oregon since 1998 and
reached the 20-win plateau in the process. The Huskies posted back-to-back 20-
win seasons for the first time since 1984-85.

This longstanding rivalry has Washington leading by a count of 144-135. The
Huskies have won five of the last six meetings overall and achieved a regular
season sweep after posting a 69-65 win in Seattle back on January 19th.
