St. Bonaventure, NY (Sports Network) – Omar Williams posted 18 points and 10
rebounds as No. 7 George Washington beat St. Bonaventure, 89-78, at the Reilly
Center, and extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 17 games.

Maureece Rice scored 16 points and Danilo Pinnock had 15 points and 12
rebounds. Mike Hall added 15 points and 11 boards for the Colonials (25-1,
15-0 Atlantic 10), who set a school record for most victories in a season.

Michael Lee scored 18 points for the Bonnies (8-18, 2-13), who have lost 12
straight games against ranked opponents. Ahmad Smith scored 14 points, while
Tyler Relph had 13. Patrick Lottin posted 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Paul
Williams added 10 points.

The Bonnies led 65-61 with under eight minutes to go, but the Colonials
exploded for a 16-2 run down the stretch, capped by a trey by Hall with 4:29
to go, to put GW ahead 77-67.

Relph hit a three to make the score 87-78 with 55 seconds to go, but Hall and
Pinnock converted two free throws during the final minute to seal the win.

The Colonials led 40-37 at halftime.

Only a matchup with Charlotte this weekend stands in the way of the Colonials
completing an unblemished conference run. If George Washington beats Charlotte
in its regular-season finale on Saturday, it will become only the fourth A-10
school to go undefeated in conference play.

As for St. Bonaventure, it is just 8-18 overall, but that mark is much better
than the 2-26 record that the club posted last season.

Game Notes

George Washington owns a 27-22 lead in the all-time series with St.
Bonaventure, including an 85-59 romp over the Bonnies in the most recent
meeting last season…The Colonials played their second game without senior
forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu. George Washington’s second-leading scorer and
rebounder underwent surgery on his left knee and is not expected to return
until the NCAA tournament.
