College Basketball Game Capsules

Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) – J.J. Redick finished with 26 points and
Sheldon Williams hit two huge free throws down the stretch, as third-ranked
Duke held off 11th-ranked Boston College and managed to claim the Atlantic
Coast Conference championship with a 78-76 win at Greensboro Coliseum. Seven
of Redick’s eight baskets came from three-point range and the star guard added
four assists for the top-seeded Blue Devils (30-3), who have won seven
of the last eight ACC Tournament titles. Williams added 18 points and eight
rebounds while Josh McRoberts finished with 16 points in Duke’s ninth
straight appearance in the conference title game. Overall, the Blue Devils
won their 16th ACC title. Louis Hinnant finished with 20 points for the
third-seeded Eagles (26-7), who made an impression on the ACC by reaching
the title game in their inaugural season in the conference.

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) – Jeff Horner had 16 points and 10 assists
to help No. 20 Iowa come from behind to upend No. 7 Ohio State, 67-60, in the
Big Ten Tournament final at Conseco Fieldhouse. Adam Haluska donated 15
points and eight rebounds while Erek Hansen and Greg Brunner chipped in 10
points apiece for Iowa (25-8), which won just its second Big 10 Tournament
title in school history. The last championship came back in 2001. Jamar
Butler netted 19 points and dished out six assists for the Buckeyes
(25-5), who had a seven-game win streak snapped. J.J. Sullinger added 15
points and seven boards in the loss.

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Mario Chalmers led a balanced scoring attack
for 17th-ranked Kansas with 15 points, as the Jayhawks knocked off eighth-
ranked Texas, 80-68, to win the Big 12 Conference Tournament championship at
American Airlines Center. Russell Robinson netted 14 points, grabbed six
rebounds and dished out six assists for the second-seeded Jayhawks (25-7),
who will head into the NCAA Tournament with a five-game winning streak. Jeff
Hawkins came off the bench to score 13 points while Julian Wright and Brandon
Rush each donated 12 points in the victory. Kenton Paulino dropped in a
game-high 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field for top-seeded Texas
(27-6), which had its three-game winning streak snapped. P.J. Tucker scored
16 points and had eight boards while Brad Buckman finished with 12 points and
nine rebounds.

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) – Joakim Noah scored the game-winning basket
and came up with a huge block late in the game as 16th-ranked Florida edged
South Carolina, 49-47, to win its second consecutive Southeastern Conference
championship. Noah finished with eight points and seven rebounds while Corey
Brewer netted 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds for second-seeded Florida
(27-6), which will head into the NCAA Tournament with a five-game winning
streak. Tre’ Kelley, Tarence Kinsey and Renaldo Balkman all scored 12
points in the loss for fifth-seeded South Carolina (18-15). Balkman also had
11 rebounds as the Gamecocks shot just 30 percent from the field for the game.

Final Score: Northwestern State 95, Sam Houston State 87

Natchitoches, LA (Sports Network) – Clifton Lee scored 22 points and grabbed
five rebounds to lead Northwestern State past Sam Houston State, 95-87, in the
finals of the Southland Conference Tournament at Prather Coliseum. Jermaine
Wallace added 16 points and five rebounds for the top-seeded Demons (25-7),
who improved to 14-0 at the Prather Coliseum this season. Kerwin Forges
and Tyronn Mitchell both finished with 13 points to help lift the Demons
to the title. Jejuan Plair paced five Bearkats players in double-figures
with 23 points. John Gardiner and Ryan Bright each donated 17 for the
second-seeded Sam Houston State (22-9), which lost for just the second
time in its last seven games.
