Miami squeaks by Oklahoma State in NIT

Coral Gables, FL (Sports Network) – Guillermo Diaz scored 15 points to lead
the Miami-Florida Hurricanes to a thrilling 62-59 victory over the Oklahoma
State Cowboys in the first round of the 69th annual NIT.

Robert Hite also had 15 points for Miami (17-15), which moves on to the second
round to play the winner of Thursday’s Akron/Creighton game.

Mario Boggan tallied 16 points in the loss for the Cowboys (17-16).

Miami jumped out to a 28-20 lead at intermission despite shooting just 31.3
percent from the floor in the first half.

The Hurricanes led by as many as 14 points in the second half, and while the
Cowboys did cut their deficit to a single point in the final minute, they were
unable to draw even.

Miami connected on only 37.3 percent of its field goal attempts in the
contest, but it committed just 11 turnovers on the night. By contrast,
Oklahoma State was guilty of 22 giveaways.
