Hawks soar past Rutgers

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – Abdulai Jalloh scored 23 points and pulled
down six rebounds to lead the Saint Joseph’s Hawks to a 71-62 victory over the
Rutgers Scarlet Knights in first round action of the NIT Tournament.

Rob Ferguson added 17 points for Saint Joseph’s (19-13), while Pat Calathes
came off the bench to score 12 points.

Quincy Douby poured in a game-high 30 points for Rutgers (19-14), while J. R.
Inman registered 12 points to go along with eight rebounds.

The Hawks connected on 6-of-12 shots from long range in the opening frame to
take a 39-27 lead into the break.

In the second stanza, Saint Joseph’s made 14-of-18 shots from the foul line en
route to the nine-point victory.

The Hawks made 8-of-19 shots from long range in the contest, while Rutgers
connected on just 4-of-18 attempts from behind the arc.

Saint Joseph’s will now move on to the second round to take on the Hofstra
Pride.
