Wallace’s late three lifts Demons to thrilling upset over Hawkeyes
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) – Jermaine Wallace netted 10 points and
buried an improbable three-point shot from deep in the left corner with 0.5
seconds remaining to lead Northwestern State to a thrilling 64-63 comeback win
over Iowa in an Atlanta bracket first-round matchup during the 2006 NCAA
Clifton Lee led the 14th-seeded Demons (26-7) with 18 points.
Northwestern State will now move on to face the winner of the West Virginia –
Southern Illinois matchup in the second round of the tourney on Sunday.
Adam Haluska netted 20 points to pace the third-seeded Hawkeyes (25-9), who
ended their season with the second-most wins in program history. Greg
Brunner added 16 points and 10 rebounds while Jeff Horner pitched in with 11
points and five assists in the loss.
