Carney leads Memphis past Oral Roberts

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Rodney Carney scored 19 points as four players
scored in double figures for Memphis, who cruised past Oral Roberts, 94-78, in
a first-round NCAA Tournament game in the Oakland Bracket at American Airlines
Center.

Darius Washington Jr., Shawne Williams, and Andre Allen all totaled 14 points
for the Tigers (31-3), who got 35 points from their bench and will advance to
Sunday’s second round where they will meet Bucknell.

Caleb Green scored 19 points, while Larry Owens added 13 points and Ken Tutt
and Jonathan Bluitt both chipped in 11 points for the Golden Eagles (21-12),
who entered the tournament on a five game win streak and as champions of the
Mid-Continent Conference.

A 22-6 run to close out the first half broke open the game for Memphis as they
took a 51-39 lead into the second half and never let Oral Roberts back in the
game.
