Texas advances with win over Penn

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Lamarcus Aldridge dropped in 19 points and
ripped down 10 rebounds as the second-seeded Texas Longhorns held off a
resilient 15th-seeded University of Pennsylvania squad, 60-52, in the first
round of the NCAA Tournament’s Atlanta bracket at American Airlines Center.

P.J. Tucker added 17 points and had 11 boards for Texas (28-6), which will
square off against 10th-seeded North Carolina State in second round action.
The Wolfpack knocked off the seventh-seeded California Golden Bears, 58-52, in
earlier first round action.

Daniel Gibson netted nine points and provided a spark down the stretch for

Ibrahim Jaaber poured in 15 points while Mark Zoller scored 13 points for Penn
(20-9), which advanced to the “Big Dance” by winning the Ivy League title for
the second year in a row and the fourth time in the last five years.

Eric Osmundson scored 10 points for the Quakers, who led at halftime, but were
outmuscled and outscored 38-29 in the second half.
