Bradley moves on in upset win over Kansas
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) – Marcellus Sommerville had 21 points and
shot 5-of-9 from beyond the arc to lead the 13th-seeded Bradley Braves to a
77-73 win over the No. 4 seed Kansas Jayhawks in first round action of the
Oakland Bracket in the NCAA Tournament.
Will Franklin contributed 14 points and six assists and Daniel Ruffin netted
11 and dished out seven assists for the Braves (21-10), who will meet fifth-
seeded Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Russell Robinson posted 18 points, seven assists and five steals and Mario
Chalmers added 15 points for the Jayhawks (25-8), who lost in the first round
of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. Jeff Hawkins totaled 11
points in the loss.
Last season Kansas lost 64-63 to Bucknell, who got a jump-hook from Chris
McNaughton with 10.5 seconds to play.
