Duke feeling sweet after win over George Washington
Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) – J.J. Redick tallied 20 points and Shelden
Williams added 17, as Duke reached the Sweet 16 for the ninth straight season,
cruising past George Washington, 74-61, in second-round action in the Atlanta
bracket of the NCAA tournament.
Josh McRoberts contributed 14 points while Greg Paulus and Sean Dockery
donated eight points apiece for the overall top-seeded Blue Devils (32-3), who
led from start to finish.
The Blue Devils will face the winner of LSU and Texas A&M in the Sweet 16 in
Atlanta next Thursday or Friday.
Omar Williams led George Washington (27-3) with 16 points, Mike Hall sprang
for 13 points and Maureece Rice netted 12 points in the loss. Leading scorer
Danilo Pinnock was held to 11 points and Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored only four
points for the eighth-seeded Colonials.
