Shocker: Wichita State beats Tennessee to advance
Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) – P.J. Couisnard scored 20 points and Kyle
Wilson tallied 17, as Wichita State provided further validation for the
Missouri Valley Conference with an 80-73 victory over Tennessee in a second-
round contest in the Washington, D.C. bracket of the NCAA Tournament.
The seventh-seeded Shockers (26-8) shocked the partisan-Tennessee crowd in
Greensboro with the help of Sean Ogirri’s 12 points, while conference Player
of the Year Paul Miller added 10 in the victory.
Wichita State will face the winner of North Carolina and George Mason in the
Sweet 16 next Thursday or Friday.
C.J. Watson and Chris Lofton netted 20 points apiece for the second-seeded
Vols (22-8), who also received 15 points from Major Wingate in defeat.
