Two Cincinnati players ineligible for NIT
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) – The NCAA has ruled that two players from
the University of Cincinnati’s basketball team, guard Jihad Muhammad and swing
man James White, are ineligible for continued participation in postseason
The two senior starters are not allowed to play in Thursday’s NIT quarterfinal
game against South Carolina and any further action this season.
Due to federal privacy law, the university is prohibited from releasing
further details without consent from the players.
“We have suspended the players indefinitely for failure to meet the standards
set forth by the NCAA and the men’s basketball program at the University of
Cincinnati,” said interim Cincinnati head coach Andy Kennedy.
The 6-7 White was the Bearcats’ leading scorer, averaging 16.3 points. He has
scored nearly 1,100 points during three seasons at Cincinnati.
Muhammad was the top three-point threat on the team, averaging 10.8 points.
