Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – Kenton Paulino’s three-pointer at the buzzer
capped a wild ending, as Texas advanced to the Elite Eight by beating West
Virginia, 74-71, in the Atlanta Regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Kevin Pittsnogle tied the game at 71 with a long three-pointer with five
seconds left. Texas immediately inbounded the ball to A.J. Abrams, who drove
toward the three-point line before dishing to the left side to Paulino, who
barely got the shot away over the outstretched hand of Franklin Young to win
the game.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 26 points and 13 rebounds, and P.J. Tucker tallied 15
points and 14 boards for the second-seeded Longhorns (30-6), who will take on
fourth seed LSU on Saturday for the right to advance to the Final Four. The
Tigers upset top-seeded Duke, 62-54, earlier at the Georgia Dome.

Pittsnogle had 19 points and Mike Gansey scored 18 for the sixth-seeded
Mountaineers (22-11), who also got 14 points from Patrick Beilein and 13 from
Joe Herber.

It was another close game between the teams. On November 21, Aldridge’s basket
with 3.6 seconds left in the game lifted Texas to a thrilling 76-75 win over
West Virginia.
