Portland, OR (Sports Network) – The University of Portland announced the
departure of head men’s basketball coach Michael Holton on Friday.

Holton compiled a 54-91 record in five seasons with the Pilots, including a
20-50 mark in West Coast Conference play. Portland finished 11-18 overall and
5-9 in the WCC this past season.

“Coach Holton is a man of great character and integrity and it has been my
pleasure to work with him,” said university athletics director Larry Williams.
“He is an extremely talented human being and it is hard for me to see him go.
We all offer him our sincere best wishes for the future.”

The school announced that a search to fulfill the vacancy will begin
immediately.
