Garland not returning to Cleveland State
Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) – Cleveland State University director of
athletics Lee Reed announced on Friday that men’s basketball coach Mike
Garland will not return next season.
Garland replaced Rollie Massimino as the 13th head coach in Viking history in
2003 and compiled a 23-60 record in three seasons at the helm.
Last season the Vikings finished the campaign 10-18 and were 5-11 in Horizon
“I want to thank Mike for the three years of service that he gave to Cleveland
State University,” said Reed. “His hard work has helped elevate the program
through a very difficult period and put it into a position to find success
down the road.”
Prior to joining to Cleveland State, Garland was an assistant coach for seven
seasons at Michigan State.
