Nickelberry named Hampton head coach

Hampton, VA (Sports Network) – Hampton University has named Kevin Nickelberry
head men’s basketball coach.

The announcement comes just over two weeks after Bobby Collins resigned from
the position, following a loss to Monmouth in the first round of the NCAA

Nickelberry served as assistant men’s basketball coach at Clemson for the last
three seasons. He’s also been an assistant at UNC-Charlotte , Holy Cross,
Monmouth and Howard.

“We are pleased to add coach Nickelberry to our athletics staff as head men’s
basketball coach,” said interim athletics director Joe Taylor. “He brings
with him a strong commitment to excellence in intercollegiate basketball.”

Collins complied a 65-57 record in his four seasons as head coach with the
Pirates, and was an assistant for an additional seven years at Hampton.
