Wright State tabs Brownell as men’s basketball coach

Dayton, OH (Sports Network) – University of North Carolina-Wilmington head
coach Brad Brownell agreed to become the next head men’s basketball coach at
Wright State University on Friday.

Brownell led the Seahawks (25-8) to the NCAA Tournament this past season,
where the club lost a large second-half lead in a heartbreaking first-round
loss to George Washington. UNC-Wilmington advanced to the Big Dance after
winning the Colonial Athletic Association Conference Tournament.

The Evansville, Indiana native posted an 83-40 record in his four seasons at
UNC-Wilmington. Before taking the head job, Brownell was the assistant or
associate head coach at UNCW under current DePaul University head coach Jerry
Wainwright for eight seasons.
