Report: NC State’s Sendek heading to ASU

Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) – According to a published report, Arizona State
will name NC State head coach Herb Sendek its new head coach within the next
few days.

Citing an ASU spokesperson, the Arizona Republic is reporting on Saturday on
its Web site that Sendek will be named coach, possibly on Monday. The paper
said the school officials did not deny the hiring.

Sendek would replace Rob Evans, who was fired shortly after the Sun Devils’
season came to an end. Evans was 119-120 in eight years at ASU. This
year’s team went just 11-17 overall and 5-13 in Pac-10 play.

Sendek just completed his 10th season at NC State. The Wolfpack went 22-10
overall and 10-6 in the ACC this past year, advancing to the NCAA Tournament
for a fifth straight season.

The 43-year-old has a mark of 191-132 with NC State and 254-158 in 13 years of
head coaching. He began his head coaching career in with Miami-Ohio.
