Morehead State names Tyndall head basketball coach

Morehead, KY (Sports Network) – Morehead State has named Donnie Tyndall its
new men’s basketball coach.

Tyndall played for Morehead State from 1990-93 and most recently spent the
last four seasons as an assistant at Middle Tennessee State.

“In conducting a national search and speaking with literally hundreds of
people, it became apparent that someone with a commitment to recruiting high
level student-athletes, a passion for the game and certainly a fondness for
Morehead State would emerge as our new head men’s basketball coach,” said
Morehead State athletic director Brian Hutchinson.

“Donnie Tyndall has all the requisite experience, having been a Division I
assistant for nearly 10 years. He is absolutely the right person to lead this
program into prominence regionally and nationally.”

Just 35 years old, Tyndall was the recruiting coordinator for Middle Tennessee
State and helped the Blue Raiders to four straight winning seasons. He has
also been an assistant at Idaho and LSU.

Tyndall has one season of head coaching experience at the junior college
level, guiding St. Catharine College in Springfield, Kentucky to a 30-5 mark
and the school’s first National Junior College Athletic Association National
Tournament berth.

Morehead State needed a replacement for Kyle Macy, who resigned on February 28
after a 4-23 season. Macy led the Eagles to a record of 106-144 in nine
seasons.
