Reno, NV (Sports Network) – The University of Nevada announced on Tuesday that
it will recommend a new five-year contract for men’s head basketball coach
Mark Fox to the Nevada State Higher Education Board of Regents.

The proposed contract will run from July of 2006 through June of 2011 and
comes on the heels of a 27-6 record, one win shy of the single-season school

In his first two years at Nevada, Fox has totaled a 52-13 record, making him
the fastest coach in Wolf Pack history to reach the 50-win plateau. He is also
the first coach in the school’s history to record back-to-back 20-win seasons.

The school has won back-to-back Western Athletic Conference regular-season
titles and has appeared in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments.

“We are extremely pleased to reach this agreement with Mark Fox,” said interim
University president Joe Crowley. “He has done a great job in furthering the
success of the University of Nevada basketball program on the court and in the
classroom, and I look forward to seeing his continued accomplishments in the
coming years.”
